Description
This extensive collection consists of over 60 pieces of blue and white glazed porcelain and ceramic ware. The assembly includes a variety of decorative vessels and functional tableware featuring several traditional patterns. Prominent items include large temple jars and ginger jars decorated with the Double Happiness character amidst scrolling foliage. Other pieces display the classic Blue Willow scene, various floral sprays including peonies and chrysanthemums, and prunus blossoms on a cracked ice ground. The decorative forms include large lidded temple jars with finials, baluster-form vases with trumpet necks, multiple sizes of ginger jars, and a rectangular lidded trinket box with a gilt-metal frame. Tableware is comprised of an assortment of dinner and salad plates with diverse border designs such as Greek key and checkerboard patterns, deep serving bowls, rice bowls, tasting cups, a teapot with a top handle, a water pitcher, teacups, and a set of traditional Chinese porcelain soup spoons. One spoon exhibits a small red mark, though it is not clearly legible. The collection also includes multiple styles of candlesticks and a kitchen crock labeled Utensils with red floral accents. The decoration across the collection appears to be a mix of transfer-printing and hand-painted or stenciled techniques.
